When you enter the home you are greeted with an open foyer that’s wrapped in a tall wainscoting and leads directly to the great room that features a coffered ceiling, stacked stone fireplace with a cedar beam mantelpiece, and two sets of French doors with matching transoms that overlook the lake. We worked with interior designer Molly Hamrick on this project for all the finishes and fixtures in the home.
The kitchen is open to the great room and the island is the focal point of this room. The massive kitchen island is 14 feet long and incorporates a walnut countertop. We worked with Distinctive Surfaces on this island top and they were able to source 14 ft long walnut boards, so the top is seamless throughout its length. The kitchen cabinets and custom hood surround was custom built by our partners at Bennett’s Cabinets. We used a Meridian “thin brick” to create an accent wall in the kitchen around the range.
The dining room off of the main floor is angled towards the lake and features 3 walls of windows, a vaulted ceiling with a cedar beam at the peak off of which a chandelier sits to illuminate the custom-built walnut dining room table.
The master suite is located on the main floor of the home and includes a grand sized walk in gym shower (no door for ease of cleaning), his and her vanities with custom mirrors and her vanity even features a pull out that nests a hair dryer and other cosmetic products. A spacious walk in closet with custom shelving and island is accessed from the master bath as well. Throughout the main floor of the home you will find No.2 White Oak flooring finished in a light gray wash stain with a satin sheen. The No.2 white oak hardwoods provide a slightly rustic touch to the interior of the home.
The lake level of the home is designed for entertaining. The lake level bar is the place to be and is centered around a custom-built bar by our trim carpenters at Palmetto Custom Woodwork. The bar is wrapped in locally reclaimed barn wood and the back wall of the bar is accented with a Meridian thin brick to continue the rustic theme. Looking out from the bar you will find a covered porch. Located under the floating dining room above the porch includes a fireplace from Tim’s Gas Depot that we wrapped in the same stone used throughout the exterior of the home. The porch is finished out with a wooden ceiling as well. From the lake level you can access the pool, outdoor kitchen, and second covered porch that’s used as a dining area. The floors of the level are stained concrete for easy care and a great industrial look.
Tucked away under the front porch you will find a wine cellar. We added the wine cellar during construction as the space under the front porch is completely recessed in the ground and the walls are all 10” concrete. The thermal conditions made this room an excellent candidate for a wine cellar. We finished the wine cellar off with a brick accent wall and a 6” tongue and groove stained pine ceiling.
The 506 sqft FROG suite was designed as a guest quarters and features a full bath, living area, and coffee bar.
We had a tremendous amount of fun collaborating with the owners on this new custom home.
