The Rabern by Paradime Construction, Inc.
The Rabern is built on five acres of land in Gilbert, SC. This property is fully wooded and we placed the home almost in the center so that is would be secluded from neighbors and the main road. In this rural setting there are plenty of deer in the area and the homeowners are avid hunters. The homeowners are divorcees getting married with two children from one side and one from another.
The design parameters for this home required four bedrooms with the owner’s suite on the second floor to be close to the young children. They also wanted a flexible room on the first floor that would be used as a media room for now but could be used as a first floor in-law and future owner’s suite. A formal living space was needed because the husband works from home and needed a secluded place to work.
The overall design was a two story, with a bonus room type bedroom over the garage. This allowed all of the main bedrooms to be on the second floor. The two car garage had also a third door for the golf cart that is used on the many trails around the property. The wrap around front porch gave the front elevation a beautiful view with the bold blue color siding contrasting with the white trim. The screened porch off the back of the home gives the family a place to enjoy the outdoors without dealing with the bugs and overlooking the new pool that is going in this spring.
The home also includes a curved staircase, open floor plan, two story foyer/stairwell, freestanding tub, tile shower with bench, and a direct vent fireplace.
But the real interesting feature about this home resides on the third floor – the Hunter’s Perch! This was a main interest of the homeowners and major design element of the home. This third floor room has windows on all sides where the hunters would have a 360 degree shot at a nice buck. The other cool thing about this hidden loft is – it is only accessible from the owner’s suite and you have to travel up a ship’s ladder to get there.
