The original house plan called for a bathroom to be added to the downstairs basement. With some mobility concerns as the homeowners get older, the decision was made to modify the space to make it easier to navigate. Palmetto Construction & Renovations was hired to do the job.
The floors to both the bathroom and walk-in closet are tile with wall accent tile being added on the walls in the bathroom. The walk-in closet features custom cabinetry that is fully adjustable based on mobility needs.
A custom zero-threshold walk-in shower was added to allow easy entry/exit. This shower features bench seating, multiple wall, ceiling, and hand-held shower heads and an accent tile wall. Grab bars were added for improved safety along with overhead can lighting for better visibility in the space. Numerous towel bars and hooks were also added for ease-of-use purposes.
Wall mounted sinks allow ample clearance underneath. Towel bars mounted around the sinks also serve as grab bars if necessary. A comfort-height toilet was also added with grab bars for safety.
This is a great looking space that really has the ability to address a lot of additinoal mobility and safety concerns.
