Renovation-B - Palmetto Construction and Renovations
This ranch-style house located in Lake Katherine had undergone a number of previous renovations in the past. However, the central part of the house was awkwardly divided. The kitchen and dining room were both a bit dated and walled off from the rest of the house. The breakfast area was small and had a secondary door that was never used. Finally, the front entry was not in an ideal spot.
The renovation focused on eliminating all of the interior walls and opening up the entire space. The project included a new kitchen, a wet bar, a new front entry, a half bath addition, along with other improvements. A space for a formal dining room table as well as casual seating was also created. Finally, the side door was eliminated and a new entry hall centered the front door on the main house.
The new kitchen features all new custom cabinets, quartzite countertops, and a tile backsplash. The addition of a large central island offers a great place for family gatherings. All new stainless steel appliances were installed including a gas stove and a stainless steel exhaust hood. The wet bar area features matching countertops, a bar sink, a beverage cooler and ice maker and nice custom cabinets for additional storage.
Another focus of the renovation was to relocate the front door toward the center of the house. A central hallway features a new stained mahogany double door. A new front porch with stained concrete, cypress ceilings, heavy molding details, and black aluminum handrails was also added.
A small half bath and coat closet were added along with all new windows and doors. A desk was added adjacent to the fireplace. New cabinets were installed in the downstairs laundry room and the addition of a linen cabinet/washer & dryer combination unit adjacent to the master suite.
Finally, the entire space was painted, new lighting added, and the floors were completely refinished.
