This project was an addition of 550 new square feet of space to a two-story bay of a house. We also redesigned and remodeled some of the original space. We opened up the existing floor plan to create a new kitchen, new dining area, and new basement area. We created a more open feel to the kitchen and dining area by enlarging the rooms, creating a new layout of the kitchen cabinets, adding massive windows to the bay of the eating area (showcasing the lake views and bringing in light), and construction an illuminated tray ceiling over the eating area.
We finished the floors in the new kitchen by matching the existing oak hardwood floors. We utilized granite for the countertops and created tile backsplashes. Previously, the basement was unfinished with no access to main floor. We were able to design and build a new staircase leading from the kitchen to the basement.
The homeowners decided to go outside the original budget and completely remodel and finish the newly expanded basement. We added tile floors, new trim work, built-ins, installed the same windows used upstairs, and remodeled an existing bathroom that was previously not in working.
750 Sq. ft before - 1,300 sq. ft. after.
