After two years of planning, Covert Homes and the Floyds embarked together on a top-to-bottom redo of this 1,800 sq. ft. 1960's simple country home. The Jay Collier design that was settled on wsa the seventh rendition of the plan. The idea added an 1,824 sq. ft. basement and two-car carport that included a workout room, shop and fully-functional safe room. Above that was a 2,074 sq. ft. space with kitchen, dinette, formal dining room, laundry/pantry and great room. It has hardwoods throughout, exposed beams, and a dumb waiter to the workout room. The back porch is 518 sq. ft. and features a tongue and groove vaulted ceiling.
After the addition was completed, the former downstairs living area wass converted into a master suite. Originally this same area housed the living room, kitchen and master bedroom. Implementing the basement foundation without disturbing the existing foundation was a challenge and ultimately required some modification of the design; however no functionality was lost in the end.
