Remodeling Services Unlimited (RSU) fulfilled the client’s dream of a magnificent outdoor living space to incorporate entertaining space, outdoor working space, and storage. This project includes a small screened dining area, large dining area, seating area with fire pit, and a huge garden room for a serious gardener.
The 30’ x 15’ typical pressure treated deck was removed and replaced with a magnificent screen porch. The existing screen porch was updated to match and is now the intimate dining area. The old wood deck was replaced with concrete that was stylishly scored and stained. The porch has 27 coffers containing LED recessed cans in 22 of the coffers. Two other coffers have ceiling fans that operate on remote controls. The other three coffers have Velux sky lights that open with remote controls operated by solar power. One of the skylights opens completely and can be used as an access door to get onto the new standing seam metal roof. These skylights provide the ventilation needed for the fantastic stone gas fire pit. The exterior of the fire pit is Tennessee Field stone. This stone is used throughout the beautiful landscaping on the property. The stones inside of the fire pit are black fire glass coordinating with the black glass tops of the steel and cable hand rails. A flat screen TV and stereo make the porches perfect for entertaining large crowds with style and grace. The porch takes advantage of the spectacular, sweeping woodland view and complements the owners naturalistic landscaping.
The large area under the new screened porch was finished out to be the huge garden room of every serious gardener’s dreams. Two large double casement windows introduce natural light and ventilation into the work space. There is shelving and wall hanging areas for specific tools and storage of particular materials and supplies. Every tool and supply has a specific place. The some of the old decking boards were reclaimed and made into the work space counter top and two work tables on casters for easy use. There is a deep sink for convenient clean up after a long day of gardening. Double doors open fully to allow ease for moving in plants and wheel barrows for work. The room is decorated in an industrial chic style using a juxtaposition of metal, concrete, wood and pops of bright red paint. The end result is a room that is built for hard work and great modern style.
RSU worked with the client to fulfill not just her needs for her outdoor space but also her dreams of elegant living, ease of maintenance, and major storage.
