Job Purpose:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day work of 2-3 Accounting staff to ensure that A/P and A/R are handled timely and correctly, monthly reconciliations, reporting and budgeting, and special projects.  Home building experience is a plus, but not required.
Accountabilities:

  • Daily supervision of 2-3 Accounting staff to ensure workload is being prioritized and addressed in the most effective manner and that all business-critical payments are being made on a timely basis.
  • Work with the Controller to refine processes, strengthen controls and fully document a more efficient workflow.
  • Implement and train staff on new or improved accounting processes that impact the organization.
  • Perform hands on work with specific parts of the A/P process to ensure all payments are made according to schedule, where necessary.
  • Reconciliations on multiple accounts, monthly.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and provide reconciliations to others in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Understanding HUD statements and loan processes.
  • Annual 1099 reporting process.  Other year-end preparation.
  • Journal entries as needed.
  • Support other duties from time to time as the Company may reasonably require.

Experience:

  • 6+ years relevant accounting experience required.
  • Supervisor experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google products, and QuickBooks required.
  • Mark Systems experience a plus.
  • Basic computer skills, ability to use standard office equipment required.
  • Familiarity with GAAP reporting, internal controls and working with auditors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Human Resources experience is a plus.
